Am I Born Unlucky

I’m 42 years old and I have a life full of regrets and failures. As a kid I never did too well in school, I was a below average student. When I grew up I joined my family business and after learning how to run a company, I floated my first company.

It bombed! I went on to float another one, it didn't start, usually the one with a positive outlook I went ahead with another venture, and it bombed too.

I took over my family business and I haven't been able to grow it into something significant, all my investments have not yielded me a penny in profits; in fact most of them have either earned me nothing or booked losses for me.

I'm a business school graduate, my portfolio is being looked over by professional wealth managers, I meditate, I’m honest, I'm truthful, I’m fair, I’m hard working, I help people to the best of my abilities and I’m known for these qualities in my business, as well as family circles.

So is it that I’m born unlucky or I’m simply a bad luck magnet?

I'm positive, I’m upbeat, I always cheer people up if they are feeling down, I’ve advised many people positively in my life, and those people are thankful they came to me.

But why am I not able to attract wealth, prosperity abundance and success in my life?

I've got so frustrated that I’m contemplating suicide, but since I have a small child I’m scared to do it.

Please advise

Law-of-Attraction-Guide Reply

If you want success, you’ve got to move towards it, you’ve got to give your attention, focus and energy to your desires so that the Law of Attraction can line them up for you.

If you focus your energy on what’s wrong with your business, and how you have failed in the past, you will be moving in the wrong direction.

These thoughts of ‘what’s wrong’ will stop you moving forward.

There is nothing wrong in being aware of the negative, but you mustn’t let it define you.

You need to walk towards your desires regardless, and as you move forward you may make mistakes and meet obstacles on the way, but it’s the way that you handle that failure that will move you ever forward.

So what of failure, how does failure help you succeed?

To begin with we need to understand what failure really is.

It’s interesting how we measure our own or other people’s achievements. We use bank balances, property size, lifestyle, power and evidences of abundance as a measure of success or failure, but we don’t really understand the difference between them.

Success and failure are not measures of have or have not, they cannot be judged by the size or the amount of our possessions, they are not destinations that we can look at and pass judgement on.

In Napoleon Hill’s book the Think And Grow Rich, he writes about R.U. Darby and the “Dig and Grow Rich” story, Hill shares with us the story of Darby’s uncle who in the last century, was caught by ‘gold fever’ and went West to dig for gold.

“He staked a claim and went to work with a pick and shovel. The going was hard, but his lust for gold was definite.

After weeks of labor he was rewarded by the discovery of the shining ore. He needed machinery to bring the ore to the surface. Quietly he covered up the mine, retraced his footsteps to his home in Williamsburg, Maryland, told his relatives and a few neighbours of the ‘strike’ They got together money for the needed machinery and had it shipped. The uncle and Darby went back to work in the mine.

The first car of ore was mined, and shipped to a smelter. The returns proved they had one of the richest mines in Colorado! A few more cars of that ore would clear the debts. Then would come the big killing in profits.

Down went the drills! Up went the hopes of the Darby’s! Then something happened! The vein of gold disappeared! They had come to the end of the rainbow, and the pot of gold was no longer there! They drilled on, desperately trying to pick up the vein again, all to no avail.

Finally, they decided to quit.

They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars, and took the train back home. Some ‘junk’ men are dumb, but not this one! He called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engineer advised that the project had failed, because the owners were not familiar with ‘fault lines.’ His calculations showed that the vein would be found just three feet from where the Darby’s had stopped drilling! That is exactly where it was found!

The junk man took millions of dollars in ore from the mine, because he knew enough to seek expert counsel before giving up.”

So is this failure?

As a chapter of Darby’s life, this project is a failure, as the Darby’s quit and gave up on their dreams, only to find that they were only three feet from realising them. But in the contents of Darby’s life it is not failure.

You see Darby took the lesson of success through persistence that he had so harshly learned in his short mining career and applied it to everything he did. As a result Darby became one of a small group of fewer than fifty men who, at that time, sold over a million dollars in life insurance annually.

So what is failure?

Absolute failure is the habit of quitting, while failing with renewed determination to achieve is a stepping-stone to success.

Throughout history, in the world of commerce and science, we see this pattern of failure, determination, persistence and success. How many millionaires have a bankruptcy against their name? How many experiments by the likes of Edison and Bell failed, before they reached the conclusion they had been seeking?

Have you ever heard of WD40?

I think most people know the product, but how many people know how it got its name?

In 1953, a fledgling company called Rocket Chemical Company and its staff of three set out to create a line of rust-prevention solvents and degreasers for use in the aerospace industry.

It took them 40 attempts to get the water displacing formula to work, hence the name WD40, Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try.

Heck they even named their product based on the number of times they failed.

It is with passion and faith that you will have the power of persistence. It is with belief that the Law of Attraction will be invoked and your journey of success will be realized.

Whether you understand the Law of Attraction or not, you must get out of the habit of thinking in your reality (unless your reality is where you want to be).

To make changes to your circumstances you must intend to, you must visualize your dreams and desires and move towards them with passion and faith.

So is it that you were born unlucky or are you simply a bad luck magnet?

Well neither, you were born lucky and you will be as unlucky or as lucky as you think you are.

You define your luck, and you are able to overcome the setbacks that have come your way, but remember, that’s just what they are, setbacks.

Remember you are not judged by how far you fall, but how far you rise after you fall... And you have it within yourself to get back up again, and make it work.

It’s down to you, and only you can make it happen.

Reading your question I see a talented person who has overcome many obstacles, a person of many qualities that are recognised by family, friends and colleges. A parent who is admired and looked up to.

I also see someone who feels and believes that they have been dealt a poor deal, someone who has had trouble coming to terms with the trials of life.

So now it’s down to you, are you going to allow these setbacks to define who you are, or are you going to take control, and take back what’s rightfully yours.

I would seriously consider looking at EFT to overcome these negative emotions, as it is such an easy thing to use, and has some fantastic results. Take a look at this web site called Try It On Everything, you’ll find the tools to take your physical and emotional well-being back into your own hands.

You Can Be Born Unlucky
by: shayne

I was brought up abused, mentally, physically, sexually, picked on at school, as an adult 43, my life has changed none, in 4 years I broke my back, lost my mother, relationship, cut two of my fingers off, failed business, laid off 3 weeks before xmas, start a new job and on the morning my friggin van breaks down, job gone...................

So if anybody can say,,, you make your luck, or you cant be born with bad luck ,,,,,,then you obviously have good luck, bad luck is a reality and it follows me, I have learnt to expect that every situation in my life turns to sheeeite, not because I?m thinking it will,,,, my thoughts didn?t break my van, my thoughts didn?t cut my fingers off or break my back, on a positive note.. I could have lost all my fingers or maybe not been able to walk again.

Law-of-Attraction-Guide Reply

Hi Shayne, I know it seems difficult to accept that you cause the reality you experience by the thoughts you have, after all, who in the right mind would ever think themselves into this kind of misfortune?

But I think you hit the nail right on the head when you said this, ?I have learnt to expect that every situation in my life turns to sheeeite.?

This is exactly what I try to get at. It?s not that you have had thoughts about your van breaking, or cutting off your fingers, or breaking your back, it?s just that you ?expect sheeeite? in whatever form it takes.

So can this change?

Yes it can, and if you?d like to take up the challenge, I?d love to help you out. I will email you personally and hopefully show you how you can start to ?Attract? the experience you want, and learn to expect the best of everything..

You're not the only one
by: Anonymous

I'm one of those naturally unlucky ones myself, and same as you try to keep as upbeat as possible. people say luck doesn't exsist but I as a poker player of 20 years knows it does. I'm also an avid board gamer and spend many an evening trying out new games with my friends. I KNOW luck exsist simply because I have experienced the bad side of it nearly my whole adult life. It's gotten so bad that friends refuse to play board games or even poker with me, not because of my attitude but because they feel sorry for me that nothing ever goes right for me. but yet I stay upbeat and believe things will balance themselves out.

I believe that the universe is based on balance. it may be unlucky now but I believe it will change in the future. Bare through it and believe that that balance exsists and your time will come, just make sure to keep an open mind on it. perhaps a car narrowly misses you keeping you alive, or your child falls 2 stories and lives. It can come in something obvious or simple, it doesn't always have to be in a form of wealth.

suicide won't solve anything simply because you nor anyone else knows what happens when you die, just live, love hope for the best and raise your child to the best of your abilities and teach them to always be looking up in life.

Re; Am I born unlucky
by: Anonymous

I agree, I work twice as hard as others, for only half the results. Seems like every time I think something good is going to happen, the rain clouds appear over me, and BAM....Like my last job, I found a job with pretty good pay, I was excelling quickly, management loved me and 10 months into it, they close down the office. Thank god I don't have kids...at least I can pull the plug anytime.....

Born unlucky - always unlucky forever.
by: David

Unlucky - understatement of the year! I'm ALWAYS unlucky at EVERYTHING - and I mean EVERYTHING. I've NEVER been lucky in life, I have no friends, I'm autistic and everything I try is guaranteed to fail.

There is such a thing as "luck" and some people are born lucky and have everything they want, like rich people such as Bill Gates. Then there are unlucky people like me who always fail and never have luck their entire lives.

Suicide remains a strong possibility to escape from this sheer hell of a life!! It will never get better, I will never have luck and I will always have nobody or nothing, except family.

It is impossible to break a curse.

Encouragement for original poster and others, etc.
by: Anonymous

Something struck me as very conflicting in your post. You said as a child in school you were 'below average'...boy is that something I'd always felt myself...never made great marks, always struggled, etc. BUT, but, but then you said, you have a DEGREE in business/finance so how does a so called BELOW AVERAGE person get a degree period???

I think it comes down to the old tapes and beliefs about ourselves. IT sounds like you've carried around a chronic sense of low self worth due to what your experiences were and how you felt about them and yourself as a child. So, I'd look at the messages you and others gave to you when you had no choice but to 'accept' them as truth. Work on replacing them with gratitude for all you've managed to learn (about business and people) ie. getting a degree, raising a family as well as INTENDING that your business dealings or anything else you pour yourself into will manifest in good time.

NOW, you are an adult with many responsibilities. I understand how bad it can feel when you put your heart and soul into something and it just doesn't seem to go right. It's easy to see nothing but the LOSSES and it's easy to see all the positives as a useless waste of time and all for not.

But you obviously have some inner work to do on that young person who didn't feel good about themselves and it's carried over to today.

I'm working on this very thing myself. Please know you aren't alone. In fact, I wish I could help you in your business by working for you because its people like you who'd probably give a person like me a chance at a job when others haven't. I'm smart but I do things different and learn differently than others do.

Your life is a precious and necessary thing. You are needed in this world - don't ever give up!

Luck is not a just positive thinking
by: Anonymous

I have read what everybody wrote, indeed such platform for un-lucky is needed to vent our feelings and exasperation and frustration. Well I am another unlucky person born in rich family. Well that's all. All the attempt in my life was unlucky.

I was born with disease when I was child. As i grew up I never made to high grade. House politics spoiled my child hood. I grew up in isolation. I joined my engineering, I was victim of ragging. I started my first venture, it bombed, continued reading Nepolean Hill book THINK & GROW RICH, Nothing changed, joined pranik healing, nothing changed. In all management technique nothing changed. I employed expert managers, nothing changed, kept on loosing money and business never improved.

I had tie up with a national company for marketing, I bombed. Chimney in factory fell down injuring people. Chemical tank exploded injuring people. Factory was jinxed with exorcism, vacated factory and started in house in small way, went for marketing on own, toiled morning till night, with bubble on foot, nothing changed. Took rate contract for govt supplies, I was booked for supplying sub standard with case in court.

Started new business, people cheated me. I started school was doing ok, iI had to sell it off at 20% of the market cost. Now started new business it is bombing. Life is full of shit, may be i am born with bad luck or jinxed. But life is full of miseries, disappointment and bad luck. Now left with only thoughts of suicide in life.

life is luck ( fact )
by: J

I am 42 and are in the final stages of finishing a book based on life. I have been writing this for over 5 years ( with a ghost writer )

Firstly, to understand who I am. I was born with a very high intellect, that high , that i am part of Mensa. I do not do drugs or drink alcohol. So my mind is as clear as ones could be to do this project.

Let me begin to say that life is 100% luck. there are 2 factors in each persons life. ( fact )

When you are born , you have ( Brute Luck )
This determines your country of birth, gender, race, physical appearance, height, intellect, skills (born with a voice like Mariah Carey, Hit a golf ball like Tiger Woods) etc. And also any diseases, illnesses or disorders you have.

Now your born, you have ( Option Luck )
This is where everyday you have multiple options (forks in the road) where "You" decide the path you take.

A good example of "lucky" option luck, would be meeting your life partner who provides you a stable life, who is born without any illness or disease, does not have a drug or alcohol or gambling addiction.

As I am limited to how much I can write on here. I will leave the title of my book on here when it goes to print (roughly 5 months time July/Aug 2011).

Life is 100% luck
by: J

I will add very briefly to my previous comment. Rather than further explain my " factual " comments. As i am publishing a 230 page book , which cannot be explained in 3000 words or less.

I would like you to explain " factually " that "your" beliefs are correct , factual.
Please explain how "anyone " can benefit from your affirmations or visualizations.
Please provide me a process or procedure to the following example.

I am a 23 year old female born with severe autism, I cannot speak properly and also have severe atrophy. I was born in the Philippines and live with my Grandmother, as my father died as a child, and my mother left me to live with my Grandmother.

Please explain your extraordinary method/s to turn my life around.

I use this young girl as an example , as the vast majority of people I know throughout third world countries suffer endless heartache and pain.

This is the sole purpose of my book.
You seem to either have a low intellect, or a combination of denial / few life experiences.

I, and other readers on here will wait with anticipation for your detailed and "factual " response.

I say this , and when you offer "false Hope " to people, you are " in fact " offering this to all 6.7 billion people throughout the World.

A Dilemma
by: Law-of-Attraction-Guide Reply

Hi J, and thank you for your comments. It's always good to add to the contrast of experience a point of view that makes us choose.

It's rather like the fork in the road you talk about.

To begin with, I didn't want to argue my view against yours, there is no point. This is the beauty of life, there is room enough for both point of views, and either way you look at it, we can both be right.

But this post does leave me with a bit of a dilemma...

Why would one person's life be what we term as lucky and another as unlucky? Seemingly for no reason at all.

Why would it be that when then fork in the road is reached, how a lucky person would randomly choose route A, and lead them self to an experience of abundance and joy, and an unlucky person would choose route B, and lead them self to an experience of poverty and sadness?

I guess you would call this simply bad luck.

Is it the case that when faced with the same choices, a lucky person chooses the right direction, simply because they are lucky, and an unlucky person chooses the wrong direction, simply because they are unlucky?

Basically, if I am unlucky I will tend to make the wrong decision?

This does suggest to me that this person's belief about their luck does tend to lead them to the choices that confirm, what it is they believe.

So here's my dilemma...

If I tend to make the wrong decision because I am unlucky, and my belief about my luck, tends to lead me to the choices that confirm, what it is I believe.

What would happen if I changed my belief, in spite of what I had experienced in the past?

To those of you who feel you were born unlucky, I share your angst! But please, I urge you, don't commit suicide. The world needs you. Your smile can make someone's day. Your unconditional love and support can bring infinite happiness to your child. Even if you are unlucky, your life means something in this world. Sure, your experience of life may be terrible, but you are worth something! You deserve to be here! And there are people who would miss you terribly if you go. Sending you all love.

if we all start depending on luck for no rhyme or reason, why would God then give us hands, legs, brains...im not sayng luck isnt important, it is. It can cause significant changes.. Not studyng and expecting a distinction in exam and blaming luck is ABSURD...our present life is to seek forgiveness from God for our previous misdeeds(Bhagavad Gita).. Everyone is blessd with sth..God isnt unfair or bias..He loves us all equally..the previous post mentiond sth 100% true, everyone has a role in this world..take for eg this forum, majority of u guys complain abt how unlucky u have been, suicide thoughts etc, and in reply ppl who say sth positive...this is life, we are meant to help one another...Our existence is Gods blessings...place all your faith in Him, He will hold your hand and guide you along.. Bcos sometimes when you fail its a easy way to cosole yourself. Just blame it on luck and try again. As a suggestion, When i feel sad, the only thing i do is read others experiences. Trust me if you try what i do, you wont be disappointed that much. Btw in the road of sadness always wear positism. Repies to David
by: Anonymous

Hi. David. I am Autistic too and for a while actually thought your post was mine since I read so many sites about people being unlucky and posting some comments.

Me and my parents no matter how hard we work as soon as we have a decent amount of money saved for emergencies we always have to have it drained usually within 3 months tops and are at *even*.

The only thing that saves us from the debt collectors is we always make sure we can afford what we do and very rarely go on credit so we have good credit standards which is probably the only blessings we ever have.

It seems like if you are good at *faking* and are born *rich* you are guaranteed instant success at whatever it is you are skilled at or otherwise you WILL be a failure in terms of wealth but I am figuring out that we are meant to spread messages of peace and love.

On the contrary: I have lots of vent up frustrations so it's hard to feel any thing close to love at the moment with all the possible conspiracies that are going on all around the world that are right under our noses taking away every bit of our free will under the sun.. :( :( :( :(

To make matters worse I am no good at keeping friends as life causes them to gravitate away from me as if life thinks I am a disease.

Sigh I wish I was born rich and ignorant as ignorant is the bliss.

Luck exists but we choose......

How to respond to it. Some of us our born to be unlucky but choosing to bottle up anger will just attract more negativeness then what we were born with.

And to those who don't believe in luck well all I can say is *Ouch! I am glad I am not one of them.* These people will eventually though perhaps not in this current life time will eventually hit rock bottom then later realize everything we do is based upon luck and it's how we respond.

If I respond with more anger then I attract more of the same in return as I have lost a lot of good turn arounds due to my anger issues. :(

Life sucks, it's full of pain
by: Anonymous

Some of us are born unlucky. I've been dogged by ill-health and ill-luck all my life, just when I thought I was out of the woods and things were finally going well, I became type-1 diabetic too. Bad luck has dogged me in everything I do - everything I try fails, usually in a way that seems to punish me for trying with a cruel one-in-a-million irony.

Everything I get involved in crashes and burns, whether it's business, social life or charity.

I've tried to be decent, kind and honest all my life yet those around me who are stupid, cruel and dishonest always seem to go on to greater and greater prosperity whilst my life gets worse and worse.

Life is worthless, a long drawn-out agony. I look forward to the end of it all, if only for the relief from the constant punishment.

What a useless life of mine

For the past years, I have tried to build up my life but all my efforts are in vain. I work very hard, yet nothing changes for better. I am 39 and sometimes, i feel it is because I am not married. For this reason i borrowed money from a close relative and got married to see if things will change for better and it seems i have just made the biggest mistake of my life. I am confused and completely tired of life itself. I wish to die but I cannot commit suicide due to my upbringing. I am just trying to accept my fate and wait until my dying day. I am truly regretting ever been born to this world. Could it be that I am unlucky or is it just my destiny?

Would you, if the opportunity presented itself, try to change your luck?
by: John Peace Law-of-Attraction-Guide

This post on my website has been concerning me for some time now, with the various messages of despair and unhappiness that are being put up as comments, these messages go against many of the ideas and beliefs that I promote with this site.

The site is called the Law-of-Attraction-Guide, and is meant as a guide to anyone who wishes to know about how and why the Law of Attraction works, and how to get this Law working to your advantage.

So, what it the Law of Attraction?

Simply put, the Law of Attraction says that the reality you experience is aligned to you, based on your predominant thoughts and feelings. That you attract to your life whatever you give your attention, energy and focus to. Whether wanted or unwanted.

Put another way, we create our reality by what we think.

Of course, for anyone who has a completely ?unwanted? reality, they would tend to shout no at this suggestion, after all, who in their right mind would create an unwanted and totally undesirable experience, if they had the power within themselves to change it? And the only reason you would think about being unlucky would be that you had had that experience, and your thoughts are only an observation of what had happened.

There is some truth in that, but I warn you, if you continue to observe and think about all the bad luck you have had, these thoughts will only serve to bring you more of the same.

So my question to anyone who feels as though you are doomed to failure and despair is this, ?would you, if the opportunity presented itself, try to change your luck??

And if so, would you commit 30 Days to giving this a try?

You see, I cannot convince you that the source of all your bad luck is in your mind, but what I can do is demonstrate it, and if you would commit 30 Days to do this, and I mean truly do this, you can change your luck.

If you want to stand up against these forces of misfortune that have been dealt to you, follow this link to purchase my 30 Day Law of Attraction WorkBook.

The cost of the program is just $27 Dollars, and I guarantee you that this will be the most valuable purchase ever made. If not, I will return your money.

Believe me, you were not born unlucky, it?s just that up to now you have not been shown the way to create the luck you need.

Give me 30 Days to show you how to change you luck?

Almost the same as the guy who asked this question
by: Anonymous

I can relate with the man who asked this question. I'm 17 and yes, I've heard the whole "you're still young, it'll get better" bit. Well, first listen.
All of my life I feel like I could do anything. But in grade school, from about 4th grade up, I was bullied for reasons unknown. While that didn't affect my studies, it affected me. I felt that if I ignored it, it'll stop. But it never did. It only got worse to the point wen I shouted a threat out of rage at the class for joining in on the bullying and then no one let me live that down. In 8th grade, I finally found a best friend, my only true friend. We're stil friends now, but around mid-junior year he got a gf. Then we kind of drifted apart, but stil maintained contact. But with him getting a gf and everyone else around me getting into relationships, I couldn't help but feel left out of love. I had a few gfs before, but each one ended after like a month or so. To add onto that, I just dropped my new iPhone after only one day of having it. I've felt really depressed, mostly cause I'm having a hard time trying to find a gf and more steady relationship. They all say that I should wait and let love come to me, but I feel like I've waited too long for the right one. My heart aches wen I see some of these couples and then look at myself and kick myself for letting the bullies get to me and ruin my self confidence. So why can't I find love like my friends did and how can I feel better evn after going thru so much with the bullies and let my heart be broken, hoping that each girl I was w/ thnk that she could fix it?

No luck

I agree with everyone on here about bad luck. I have had nothing good happen to me in 54 years. Everything has been a disaster. Everything I have tried or done falls apart. I can stand on a corner and get hit by a car...on the other side of the road. People are born lucky or not lucky. Period.
