Contentment Follows Any Thought of Gratitude

by Kathleen

After a week of deciding to feel grateful for being healthy and mobile even though in my 80s (I think maybe I had got a bit complacent) I was filled with such a sense of peace and pure contentment.

I decided that I did not really need to leave home to enjoy the proverbial change. I could change so much right in my own home.

Put more flowers in the room for instance. Make a meal for my son who has no one to cook for him now.

I could give away all those gifts of writing paper and notelets I have never used to my sister who cannot afford them and who writes to everyone.

I could say, "Now, I will wash the dishes" with a smile instead of a weary Suppose I'd better get those dishes done.

Being grateful for just a week has brought me what seems to be permanent contentment.
