Introduction To The Law of Attraction

As an introduction to the Law of Attraction many people may have seen the film The Secret, and as a result been left with the idea that by simply visualizing their desires, their lives could be everything they wished them to be.

Unfortunately this is quite a simplistic way of thinking about the Law of Attraction, and for some people, it seems that no matter how much they visualize the things they want, these things never seem to manifest.


As an introduction to the Law of Attraction, The Secret does a great job, and there could have been no better way of introducing these ideas to such a wide audience.

My criticism of the film is this, it leaves viewers with an over simplistic idea of reaching their goals which could cause frustration and despair. This is because visualization is not always the best way of applying this Law, and could even push your desires further away.

Many people who have had an introduction to the Law of Attraction, would come from a reality in which some aspect of their experience were not particularly satisfying. And, in an attempt to remedy a certain lack, they would visualize themselves having the opposite experience.

If they lacked companionship, and experienced loneliness and no love, to remedy this they would most likely visualize romance in a relationship.

If they lacked money and experienced debt and being without, to remedy this they would most likely visualize abundance and wealth.

If they lacked health and experienced disease and pain, to remedy this they would most likely visualize wellness and well-being.

On the face of it, visualizing the opposite of what you don't want seems like a logical thing to do, but unfortunately it can serve to make things much worse.

To explain this, as an introduction to the Law of Attraction I would tell someone that this law aligns experiences that are a match to their focused thoughts and feelings. Put another way, it is their focused thoughts and feelings that make up a vibration, and in response to this vibration, the Law of Attraction will align matching events, circumstances and people.

For instance...

If you think and feel a lack of companionship, and vibrated loneliness and no love, you would align to events, circumstances and people who helped you to think and feel lonely and unloved.

If you think and feel a lack of money and vibrated debt and being without, you would align to events, circumstances and people who helped you to think and feel unwealthy and poor.

If you think and feel a lack of health and vibrated disease and pain, you would align to events, circumstances and people who helped you to think and feel sick and unhealthy.


The Law of Attraction will always align you to what you think and fell about most.

Understandably, as a remedy to these vibrations and in an attempt to change their reality, many people will visualize the opposite of these experiences.

But, as manifestations tend to take some time, the evidence of their efforts may not be that obvious.

With no apparent results, and a greater effort to try and change these unwanted things, as frustration builds and you dwell over how, when and where, it is very easy to feel to feel worse about things not changing.

And as you continue to notice, think about and feel the lack of the things you desire, you add the thoughts and feelings of these things not being in your reality, and as we have already seen, the Law of Attraction will then align you to a future of being without.


You may be visualizing romance in order to remedy lack of love, or abundance in order to remedy lack of money, or wellness in order to remedy lack of health, but as you notice, think and feel the lack of change to your circumstances, you vibrate the lack of the things you visualize, and consequentially realign to a reality of without.

On the face of it, visualizing the opposite of what you don't want seems like a logical thing to do, but unfortunately it can serve to make things much worse.

I know that I make it sound almost impossible to change from an unwanted reality by focusing on what you want, and to be honest, if your focus is towards what needs to change in order for you to become happy, surely this will only provide you a match for your focus, a reality that needs changing.

Therefore as an introduction to the Law of Attraction, my suggestion would be this...

Instead of focusing on what you want to change so that you can begin to feel happy, focus on being happy so that what is manifest to you, helps you to keep your happy vibration.

This is the real secret of the Law of Attraction.
