The Law of Attraction And Neurological Disorder

I have been sick for the past 11 years with an undiagnosed neurological disorder that prevents me from working or participating in most activities. I was at a happy point in my life when this happened.


I went to bed one night happy and healthy and awoke the next morning extremely ill and have never had a minute of wellness since that morning began so horribly.

I meditated for years on a daily basis and have found a way to look at this illness in a positive light for the most part. It is very difficult when you are bombarded with constant pain etc but still I have been able to find the positives in this, but I cannot seem to shake the illness.

Two years ago my Mom got very ill after being poisoned by her Doctor and now I am having to find a way to be her caretaker on top of my own illness.

I am now at a breaking point, both physically and emotionally and in desperate need of some positive change.

Can you provide any ideas about turning this around?

My siblings have been abusive towards me since my Mom has become so ill, offering no support or relief in the care of my Mom and my whole life is falling apart around me.

I really am at a breaking point and I am terrified of anything else happening because I know I am not strong enough now to contend with any more troubles.

Please if you could help me find some new ways to turn this around, I would be ever so grateful.

The Law of Attraction works in this way….

You attract to your life whatever you give your focused attention and energy to, whether wanted or unwanted.

Your focused attention and energy, are your strongest thoughts, feelings and beliefs, or your vibration, and you attract from the outside what you resonate with, on the inside.

If you take this on board, then each and everything that you experience, must have been caused by a way of thinking, or a way of feeling that you have had.

I am not saying that you thought of having a neurological disorder, but the very fact that this is your experience, you must have had thoughts or feelings, which were the cause of this.

Whether it was stress, emotional upheaval, fear, worry, upset, or just a difficulty of some sort, there must have been a cause that produced the effect that you are experiencing.

I know that this is difficult to accept, especially when you think that you were happy at the time this happened, but happy is quite a comparative word, and compared to your feelings know, I am sure that you were happier then.

There is also not much value to finding the specific thought or way of feeling that caused this, as no doubt this specific fear or worry has probably long gone, only to be replaced by other ways of thinking that hold this disorder in your experience.

So how do you change your experience?

Your meditation will certainly so some way to help you, and it must have helped you find some of the positive aspects that you talk about, but it sounds to me that you are holding this illness at a distance trying to shake it off, like a leach that latched on to your body.

And as you try desperately to shake this off, the more this thing latches on.

To explain what is happening, let’s go back to my explanation of the Law of Attraction….

“You attract to your life whatever you give your focused attention and energy to, whether wanted or unwanted. Your focused attention and energy, are your strongest thoughts, feelings and beliefs, or your vibration, and you attract from the outside what you resonate with, on the inside.”

The cause of this illness, has more than likely long gone, but if you read your question it is quite plain to see why it is that you continue to feel this way.

“I really am at a breaking point and I am terrified of anything else happening because I know I am not strong enough now to contend with any more troubles.”

I can of course understand your feelings, and your desperation, but unless you let this ‘need’ for change go, you will continue to feel a stronger and stronger need for change.

You see, your need for change is your biggest vibration, it is your biggest focus of your attention and energy, and as, through the Law of Attraction, you attract to your life whatever you give your focused attention and energy to, you will continue to attract a greater, and a more desperate feeling of need.

It is time for you to embrace this illness, after all it is your creation. This is something you brought into existence, it is yours, you own it, and until you learn to love what you create, how can you begin to create what you love?

Stop condemning your work, as the more you condemn it, the stronger and more defined it becomes. You cannot hold this illness at a distance and shake it off, and the more you try, the more it will hang on.

Here is a fantastic passage from Neale Donald Walsh’s book, Conversations with God, which demonstrates this perfectly.

“Neale: You have said that " what you resist persists, and what you look at disappears." Can You explain that?

God: You cannot resist something to which you grant no reality. The act of resisting a thing is the act of granting life. When you resist an energy, you place it there. The more you resist, the more you make it real- WHATEVER it is you are resisting.

What you open your eyes and look at disappears. That is, IT CEASES TO HOLD ITS ILLUSIONARY FORM.

If you look at something- truly LOOK at it- you will see RIGHT THROUGH IT, and right through any illusion it holds for you, leaving nothing but ultimate reality in your sight. In the face of ultimate reality your puny illusion has no power. It cannot long hold you in its weakened grip. You see the TRUTH of it, and the truth sets you free.

Never resist ANYTHING. If you think that by your resistance you will eliminate it, THINK AGAIN. You only plant it more firmly in place.”


You can only change this by loving it, embracing it, and moulding it to an experience you prefer.

On a more practical level I would suggest that you try using EFT

Chronic pain, family obligations, frustration and LOA

My husband also has a disorder called Trigeminal Neuralgia that causes intermittent but chronic shooting pains through his face, temple and jaw.

It struck him around 11 years ago out of the blue. It is one of those 'disorders' that isn't easily explained but we were told he could have surgery and it would likely help. He had what is called the Gamma Knife which essentially was aimed at the Trigeminal nerve in his head so that the pain receptors stopped feeling the pain. It took around 4 months after for the procedure to take, but it worked and he was pain free for many years.

Recently, the pain has come back with a vengence which can happen with this particular disorder. It can affect everything in your life if you let it. It will affect those around you because others don't know how to deal with your pain and nothing seems to help. It's very hard watching someone you love be in this kind of pain - it is a helpless feeling.

It can also bring worries of financial loss and insecurity which is why it is very important to remain in gratitude for all that is present in your experience, yes, even the bad.

I was also a caregiver for my sick mother at
one time...and a sick aunt who had no children I had little support from my family members and a few who abused me through the process. IT was exhausting and thankless.

What I would suggest is staying in gratitude while believing that your life with or without this disorder is a thing of relevance, beauty and opportunity. Focus on affirming into yourself daily doses of self acceptance (acceptance of disorder without resignation) meaning that life is what it is now and for the last 11 years but that it's NOT OVER and DONE FOR YOU.

AS for your mother, you need outside help. INTEND this help to come to you and it will. Use her financial resources or if she has none, medicare and or SSDI should be able to offer respite in the way of caregiving and other services. My mother had alzheimers and not a nickle to her name. With four children we did have to supplement some of what her needs were but medicare mostly picked up the rest. If your siblings won't help, so be it. Try to get POA so that you can control what is in the best interest of your Mother needs and future care.

Whatever you can do in small doses daily, do. Make sure you get plenty of rest in between and state to the universe and God, my healing is now, my body's needs are aligning with health and happiness and my mind is shifting to that place of vibration.

I just posted an earlier comment for the question but I forgot to say that John's suggestion for EFT is a good one. We've just begun practicing it ourselves and are intending good results with it!
